Beyond Bias: The SAGER Framework as a Catalyst for Equitable Health Research

26 February 2026 | Organizer: ISPM -BIHAM

This lecture introduces the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) guidelines as a practical and normative framework for strengthening equity, rigour, and relevance in health research. It examines how systematic integration of sex and gender considerations across the research cycle, from study design and data analysis to reporting and knowledge translation, can reduce bias and close persistent evidence gaps. Drawing on real-world applications across disciplines and global health contexts, the lecture highlights the role of SAGER in shaping institutional policies, editorial standards, and research practice, and reflects on its potential to catalyse more inclusive and accountable health research systems.
